Registration Information

You can register for courses on TUPortal . From there, you can add and drop courses (before the add/drop deadline). Open registration dates can be found on the Temple University Academic Calendar . If you have any questions about course registration or pre-requisites, contact your academic advisor. Advisors may provide pre-requisite or restriction overrides if needed for registration.


Academic Standing

A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required in order to complete a Master’s degree program and graduate. No grade below a C- can be used to fulfull any graduate requirement. In addition, a student who receives more than two grades below B- or more than one grade of F will be dismissed by the Graduate School for failure to maintain satisfactory grades.


Course Transfer

Students may petition for up to 6 credits of graduate coursework taken in an accredited institution graded B or higher to be accepted toward a CIS Master’s degree. Credit is only accepted at the discretion of the CIS Department. Contact your program advisor for information.


Teaching Assistantships (TA)

In CIS, graduate TAs grade assignments, coordinate lab sections and work up to 20 hours per week. While CIS TAships are typically reserved for Ph.D students, sometimes there is a need for MS students to serve as TAs. There is no formal application process.
