CIS is accepting students to a new Professional Science Master's program in Cyber Defense and Information Assurance for Fall 2017. The CIS program provides professionals with the skills necessary to protect organizations from the increasing cyber-threats. The curriculum is technology intensive, yet also bridges the increasing gap between cybersecurity technology and the overarching cybersecurity standards and policies.

CIS was well represented at the 2017 Grace Hopper Celebration, the world's largest gathering of women technologists. Twelve students and their faculty advisor, Claudia Pine-Simon attended the event.
Professor Jie Wu was a Distinguished Lecturer at the Institute of Computing and Cybersystems at Michigan Technological University on September 22. the topic of Professor Wu's lecture was "Algorithmic Crowdsourcing and Applications in Big Data".
CIS Undergraduate, Aidan Shea, is Second-Runner up in the ACM Research Competition at ACM SIGMODS/PODS 2017. Aidan's research, "A Visual System for Mining Crime Mining across College Campuses", was supervised by Professor Eduard Dragut.
