Research Assistant Positions in Data Mining

Data Engineering Laboratory


Two graduate research assistantships are available in the area of data mining and knowledge discovery for students applying to the Ph.D. program in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences, Temple University, USA. These are full assistantships with funds available for four years and cover tuition, fringe benefits and a stipend for living expenses.

The students will be involved in research projects on "Extracting Patterns from Medical Image Databases" and "Large Scale Data Analysis for Brain Images" funded by the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health respectively. Applicants are primarily selected based on their education credentials (GPA), work experience, GRE score, TOEFL score, recommendations, research potential, and expressed interest in carrying out research work. They should have at least a B.S./B.E. degree with honors in computer science, computer engineering, mathematics or a related discipline, with relevant research experience being a significant advantage. Experience with multimedia databases, data mining, data compression, medical informatics and medical image analysis is desirable. However, highly motivated and academically strong applicants interested in getting into the field are also encouraged to apply.

The Department of Computer and Information Sciences has 22 tenure-track faculty members with strengths in broad areas of Computer and Information Sciences and offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in basic and multidisciplinary areas.
