==+== ===================================================================== ==-== Title: XXX ==+== Reviewer: Anduo Wang (anduo.wang@gmail.com) ==*== Paper summary The paper presents the design and implementation of YYY, a tool for identifying and eliminating redundant NF logic. Preliminary evaluation with two IDSs (Snort and Suricata) shows significant performance gain (improved throughput). ==*== Strengths (+) The project addresses an important aspect of network functions, namely time-driven logic, in a timely manner. (+) The paper presents a comprehensive study of SDN bugs, attempts to answer the important question of managing software bugs in SDNs. (+) The paper also uncovered several concrete interesting discoveries about several popular controllers and diagnosis tools; the observations in Section 4-6 are particularly revealing. ==*== Areas for improvement (-) The technical innovation of ZZZ seems thin: the description (even informal intuition) of the central TE algorithm is completely missing. The global inter-LC TE is not likely to be optimal, as the RC TE will be invoked only when the LC process entirely fails. (-) The evaluation framework is interesting, unfortunately, the description of the framework itself is sparse and scattered throughout the evaluation specific to ZZZ. It is also not clear whether the framework can be used for (or through what interface) other multi-controller SDN systems, which seems to be the main value beyond specific experiments of ZZZ. (-) The presentation of the paper is not balanced. The introduction focuses on ZZZ, difficulty with existing multi-controller SDNs; but a greater portion of the technical developments (or technical achievement) pertains to the evaluation framework.
