ftp between NT and Unix

1. Log into the NT machine.

2. From the Start button, go to Programs - Util - WS_FTP32.

3. When the Session Profile box comes up you will fill in:

The host name of the computer to which you will connect

Your username and password for the computer to which you are connecting

Now click OK

4. Next you will see the main WS_FTP window. At the top will be the name of the host to which you are connected.

The two sides of the window are labeled Local System and Remote System.
The Local System is the PC, and the remote is whatever machine you are connected to.

On the local side, in the top half of the window, double-click on G:. This puts you into your home directory on the PC.

Now the top half of the window will display any subdirectories that exist in your home directory. The bottom half of the window will display the files in that directory.

4. Highlight the file you wish to transfer to or from the PC.

To transfer a text file (source code, such as a .cpp or .h file make sure that the ASCII radio button is selected (near the bottom of the window).

5. Click on the appropriate arrow to initiate the transfer of your file. (The direction should be obvious.)

The file will appear in the window to which to which you copied it.
