Discrete Mathematics and its Applications
Kenneth Rosen
McGraw Hill


TOPICS COVERED:

Finite automata, their limitations and capabilities, and Kleen's theorem or regular expressions. Other types of automata and their events. Turing machine and computability, computable functions, and halting problems. Introduction to context-free languages. Syntactical analysis of such languages with application to translation. NOTE: For Computer Science Majors.


HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS:

Homework will be worth total of 63% of the grade, broken into 43% for the assignment and 20% for the submitted LaTex file.


JFLAPP

There will be a number JFLAPP assignments.

These assignments will be worth 10% of the grade.


QUIZZES:

The quizzes will be worth 17% of the grade.

FINAL PROJECT:

At the end of the semester a final project will be assigned. The final projet will be worth 10% of the grade.

Your grade for the course will be based on the following:

Homework 43%
JFLAPP 10%
Quizzes 17%
Final project 10%
