Written Assignment to Accompany
Fractions Problem
The following questions are to be answered individually -- not as a group. They all
pertain to your experiences working in a group in completing Assignment 2. You are
to write a short paragraph in answer to each of the questions, except for Question No.
0.
You are strongly urged to keep a log (a record) of your experience in this project and
use this log to help you answer these questions. You may turn in your log as well if
you wish. You will be graded on the content of your response as well as sentence
structure and your general use of English (including spelling).
Maximum Length = Three Double-Spaced Pages
- 0. Identify the members of your group.
- 1. Was the problem statement clear? Describe, or at least list, aspects
of the problem
statement that may have been ambiguous or incomplete. Describe any difficulties your
group might have had in figuring out what you were required to do. How did you
resolve these problems?
- 2. What did each member of your group contribute to the problem
solution? Be specific.
- 3. Describe how your group worked. For example, did anyone in your
group emerge
as the group leader? How did you split up the work to be done? Was each member of
your group encouraged to participate in your group discussions? Did the entire group
work on the design of the system and then code it individually or was part of the
design split up as well. How were members of the group informed about the interfaces
between components and about changes in these interfaces?
- 4. In what ways did your group communicate -- phone, e-mail, the course
news group
bulletin board, face-to-face meetings, other? Were there certain kinds of issues that
were better or more easily dealt with using one means of communication rather than
another?
- 5. What problems did you encounter during integration testing (testing
all program components together) in the lab? Be specific.
- 6. What did you learn from this experience? Feel free to comment on the
positive
aspects and the negative ones as well. Did you learn anything about yourself?
