AccessNet Account Procedures

Spring 2006

Temple offers all current students, faculty, and staff an AccessNet account.  An AccessNet

username and password allows students to log in and use Temple University's computer resources, such as Unix shell access and TUportal, which includes TUmail, Blackboard, MyBackpack, OWLnet, and the Cherry & White Pages.

Procedure for student accounts

Many students receive an AccessNet username and PIN number in the mail.
These students must go online to activate.temple.edu to create a password.

Students who did not receive account information in the mail have two options

for opening an account:

§         Students can open an account online if they have been registered
for 24 hours.  To open an account online, they can go to the Account
Activation Web site at:

                              http://accounts.temple.edu

and follow the directions to obtain their AccessNet username and password.

§         Students can obtain an account by visiting any of the Account Centers
listed on the back page of this document.

Note:  For security reasons, no account information will be given out via e-mail or

            distributed to third persons.

Procedure for special situations

There may be exceptions to the eligibility requirements mentioned above, such as:

§         Students who are not currently enrolled in CIS classes but who are
finishing an incomplete CIS course, or

§         CIS Graduate Assistants who do not have a validated ID due to
financial processing.

In these cases, students should contact Jackie Harriz (215-204-1614) in the
CIS Department in Wachman Hall, 3rd floor.
