Kai Zhang received his Master's degree from the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2004, and his PhD degree in Computer Science in 2008 from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He was a postdoc researcher at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab from 2008 to 2010. From 2010 to 2013, he worked as a research scientist in Siemens Corporate Rearch, and then joined the NEC Labs America as a Research Staff Member. In 2017, Kai joined Temple University as an Associate Professor. Kai has devoted his research to machine learning, bioinformatics, brain functional networks and time series/complex network modelling. He is the winner of NEC Labs America 2016 Business Contribution award, and the KDD 2016 Best Paper Runner-up award. Kai's research in Brain Functional Networks has received the commentary from the 2014 MacArthur Award recipient D. Bassett in the prestigious Brain journal in 2016.
