CIS Undergraduate, Aidan Shea, is Second-Runner up in the ACM Research Competition at ACM SIGMODS/PODS 2017. Aidan's research, "A Visual System for Mining Crime Mining across College Campuses", was supervised by Professor Eduard Dragut.

Aidan is a Computer Science and Physics major in the Honors Program, and has just completed his freshman year at Temple.

SIGMOD/PODS 2017 was held in Chicago, May 14 - 19, 2017. The annual ACM SIGMOD/PODS conference is a leading international forum for database researchers, practitioners, developers, and users to explore cutting-edge ideas and results, and to exchange techniques, tools, and experiences.

A program committee reviewed research abstracts and invited selected students to attend SIGMOD 2017 to present a poster. A panel of judges reviewed the posters and selected students to give a research talk on the next day where the final 3 winners were determined.
