Karl Morris Visits Commonwealth Connections Academy

Karl Morris, Assistant Professor in CIS, participated in an outreach program at the Commonwealth Connections Academy, a free Pennsylvania Cyber-School. Dr. Morris lead a discussion with students about what computer science is, and why it's a viable and interesting field of study. He gave a high level presentation on certain fundamental concepts in computing (e.g. concepts such as turing machines and data structures, and problems such as sorting, shortest path, etc.) and spoke about the ways in which computer science is helping us solve some of today's pressing problems and leading innovation (healthcare, autonomous vehicles, safety). The participating students were juniors and seniors at CCA. The presentation was open and not aligned with any particular course.
